Training for a Half Marathon

Coming into Hollywood, the midway point of the ASICS LA Marathon.
Through the Official Charity Program for the ASICS LA Marathon, Race 4 Veronika’s Place is able to offer team members a Charity Marathon Relay. This race allows two people to complete the LA Marathon with the relay transition point in Hollywood. Both members are required to complete one leg of the marathon at 13.1 miles.

During the 2013 LA Marathon, I kept my eyes open for the transition point. I remember feeling great! This made me to believe that a half marathon, although still in the double digits distance, it is much easier on your body. If you do not have a running or mileage base, this may be a better option and still join Race 4 Veronika’s Place.

However, although I am saying it is easier on your body than a full marathon at 26.2 miles, it is still very important to follow a training plan. You also have the option to run or walk the half marathon. Grab a friend and join as a team of two, or grab 3 more people and two can start the marathon and two can finish the marathon. There are lots of options. We will be happy to answer all your questions.

I personally enjoy half marathons. I love the accomplishments of completing a full marathon, but not interested in always competing in marathon, but feel completely comfortable in signing up for a half here and there. They are quicker, they have the same energy, and you will finish feeling completely accomplished.

You can still join the LA RoadRunners or LA Leggers, and not complete the full mileage. There are many people that join a training club for the group support and motivation, yet have different fitness goals. Again, please consult with your health professionals before starting an exercise program.
